The core project, the "Virtual Research Environment for the History of Political Discourse 1500-1800", is funded by the JISC under the aegis of its VRE Programme. This project is one of four humanities projects funded by the JISC VRE programme that "spearheads the AHRC's strategy for developing and applying e-research in the Arts and Humanities". It's first focus has been an MA in the History of Political Discourse 1500-1800, taught jointly by the project partners, the University of East Anglia (School of History) and the University of Hull (Department of History). The MA course has provided the initial driving force behind the construction of the VRE. The VRE project is now applying the knowledge gained in the context of the MA course to its expansion to include the eTexts VRE and the VReading group.
